Prospects
Import prospects from a CSV file
You can import up to 50,000 prospects at a time from a CSV file — exported from a spreadsheet, a CRM or a lead database.
Prepare the file
- One prospect per row, with a header row naming the columns.
- An email column is required. Everything else is optional.
- Save as CSV (UTF-8) from Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.
Import
- Go to Prospects and click Import.
- File: drop in your CSV.
- Map columns: match each column to an Outsquid field — Email, First Name, Last Name, Company, Job Title, Phone, LinkedIn URL, Website, City, State, Country or Timezone. Choose Custom field to keep any other column (you can use it as a variable in your emails), or Skip this column to leave it out.
- Review & Import: check the preview, optionally add everyone to a list, and choose what to do with duplicates.
Duplicates
If an email address is already in your prospects, choose:
| Option | What happens |
|---|---|
| Skip | The existing prospect is left as it is |
| Fill empty fields | Only fields the prospect is missing are filled in |
| Overwrite | Fields are replaced with the values from the file |
Empty cells never erase a value, and a prospect's status is never changed by an import.
Skipped rows
Rows without a valid email address are skipped, and so is a second row with the same address. Addresses on your blacklist are imported with the Blacklisted status, so no campaign emails them. The import summary tells you how many were added, updated and skipped.
Timezones
Use names like America/New_York or Europe/London. Values Outsquid doesn't
recognise are left empty rather than guessed.
